I parachuted down
barely missing the point on
the top of that skyscraper
looking out my window
writing on paper
I wonder
in this concrete town
what tomorrow
will bring?
feeling warmth of the sun
warm like a hamburger bun
the blue sky
so bright
but, today I’m dulled
sunset calms the night
I’m an ear of corn shucked
and kernels hulled
everyone else
is happy but me
why am I so dulled?
people trod along
believing they are free
doing what they do
so carefree
it is me who sees
the dark things
and
my
thoughts
turn
into
words
with
flapping
wings.
